St. Marcus Lutheran Church

The original organ of St. Marcus was first installed in 1881 by William Schuelke of Milwaukee at its old church. When the congregation built its current building in 1913, they contracted with the Wangerin Organ Company of Milwaukee to build them a new organ utilizing most of the pipe work from the original Schuelke organ. In 1997 the church contracted with Peters, Weiland and Company to do some work to the organ including minor tonal changes. In 2016, the congregation hired Nolte Organ Building to do another major renovation. It was important to both client and builder that the original tonal quality of the organ be retained and anything added would enhance the sonic properties of the organ. The chests on the Great side of the organ failed and were unserviceable. The organ also lacked uperwork and reeds in the pedal. We made all new pitman chests for the Great division; added a new 4' Octave, 2 and 2/3 Quint, and Mixture. The Swell received a new 3 rank mixture, a 2 2/3' Nazard, and a 1 3/5' Tierce along with the original 4' Octave from the Great. In the pedal a new 16' and 8' Posuane were added along with a 16' extension to the Oboe.  The largest stop added to the organ was a real 32' Subbass extension which we manufactured at our shop. The organ now makes a grand sound and fills the space of a church with a most active music program.
